Japanese researchers from the Department of Infectious Diseases, Kyoto Prefectural University of Medicine have reported in a new study that the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus survive and linger on human skin much for up to 9 hours, while the flu - IAV (Influenza A virus) lasts for approximately 2 hours.
The study also applied the viruses onto other surfaces including stainless steel, heat-resistant glass and plastic. The researchers found that COVID-19 remained active on these surfaces for between 58 and 85 hours, whereas the flu lasted around six to 11 hours.
